Il y a quelques temps la géniale créatrice de Let Them Eat Cake m'a demandé d'écrire un post pour le lancement de sa nouvelle marque entièrement destinée aux garçons Elslip and Moss et de lui parler de ce qui m'inspire.

Recently, the amazing designer of Let Them Eat Cake asked me to write about where I get my inspiration for her new blog and brand new Ethical clothing label for boys Elslip and Moss.

And because I did not quote him but I put one of his photos, Colin Pantall and his look on childhood and his daughter, a pure wonder! And if you ask yourself whose painting is it, it will be a subject of a next post ;-)

Petits coussins

Fan de l'imprimé d'Olive Manna, je l'avoue... En plus elle a eu la gentillesse de créer l'imprimé en noir et blanc rien que pour moi, c'est pas gentil ça? Bon, on cherche pas toujours à avoir le coussin assorti à sa jupe mais qui sait...je vais peut être lancer une mode ;-D Total look fanions, je vous dis!!
Et bonne fête des mamans à toutes avec un peu de retard...mais j'ai une excuse je faisais des coussins!

Fan of Olive Manna's design, I confess... And she even created a black and white version just for me, isn't it sweet! Ok, we never really look for having a cushion matching our skirt but who knows... Maybe I'm about to launch a new trend ;-D Total pennants look, it will be!!
And happy mother's day to those who celebrated it yesterday and those who celebrated it at the beginning of the month...a bit late, I know but I have an excuse, I was sewing cushions!

This is our first skirt of the Rio collection. Made with organic cotton sateen (Certified organic cotton by Global Organic Textile Standards (GOTS)) and printed with water-based pigment inks from our photos we took in Brazil. Don't you remember this place?

Voyage à camionnette...

18 heures de route en 24 heures dans un camion rempli de laine brute prête à être filée, teinte et mise en écheveaux. Comment rendre cette expédition glamour pour mon petit blog? La camionnette de notre éleveur de mouton mérinos est loin d'être un camper Volkswagen des années 70 et les aires d'autoroute, no comment... La Creuse, par contre est une bien jolie région, pas si froide que, en vraie fille du sud, je l'avais imaginée...(enlève ta parka et ton bonnet Justine, c'est la Creuse pas le pôle nord!). Alors pour rendre ce voyage aussi beau que nos voyages au Brésil rien ne vaut les photos en pola! Les polas c'est quand même plus sympa! En plus ça rime! D'ailleurs dans la série je fais des rimes, j'en ai d'autres en magasin...Bon, j'avais promis à mon mari de ne pas les mettre sur mon blog car elles sont, comment dire? Pas très recherchées...Mais bon, voilà ce que m'a inspiré cette journée de voyage sur les autoroutes de France:
1-Les sandwichs daunat, j'en veux pas!
2-Les snickers ça t'écœure! (Surtout quand t'en manges 3)
3-Les camionnettes c'est super chouette! (de loin...) 
Euh, on avait dit glamour..?
Donc, expédition fatigante mais c'est pour la bonne cause! Rencontre avec toutes les personnes qui vont travailler notre laine, choix de la grosseur du fil, choix des couleurs...
De la laine des Alpes en passant par la filature dans la Creuse pour être enfin tricotée par les petites mains et aiguilles expertes de nos tricoteuses pas loin de chez moi, notre collection laine pour l'hiver prochain, est 100% française! Et puis, pas n'importe quelle laine! Du 100% mérinos, une laine qui ne gratte pas et s'adoucit au fil des lavages, rien que ça!
Je suis donc de retour, fatiguée, impatiente de voir notre laine filée et teinte dans nos couleurs mais très occupée par le salon Kids and the City qui approche à grands pas! D'ailleurs, j'espère vous y voir ;-)

18 hours on the road in 24 hours, driving a truck full of raw wool ready to be spinned and dyed. How can I make this expedition look glamourous? Our sheep breeder's truck is not a Volkswagen camper of the 70s and the French motorways, no comment... But La Creuse is a nice region, very green and not as cold as I thought...(take off your coat and scarf, Justine, it's the centre of france, not the North Pole!)
So, nothing's better than polaroid photos to make this roadtrip look as beautiful as our trips to Brazil, don't you think?
Very tiring expedition but it was worth it! Meeting all the persons who work on our wool and who make our yarn, choosing the right thickness, the colours...And the satisfaction of having a wool collection 100% French that we can trace from the sheep to our hand knitters. And it is not any wool! It is a 100%merino wool that does not itch and gets softer when you wash it, nothing less!
So I'm back, tired and looking forward to seeing our yarn in our colours but very busy with the market to come in Paris! Hope I will see you there at Kids and the City ;-)
Did I mention that you are lucky not reading French! I made some very bad jokes and rhymes above that I can't translate into English. So I will still have English readers, and I hope french ones will forgive me ;-D

Du 3 au 5 juin, Une sardine à Rio quitte le sud et s'installe à Paris à l'atelier des Francs Bourgeois pour le salon événement Kids and the City. 
Un salon qui fourmille de créateurs plus talentueux les uns que les autres, Lallélie et ses exquises poupées, De Beaux Souvenirs et ses délicates créations en fil de fer, Zazazou et ses créations chics, écologiques et éthiques...et beaucoup d'autres! 
Alors, si vous êtes à Paris, n'allez pas chez Merci, venez à Kids and the City!...Enfin, allez chez Merci le mercredi (vous m'y verrez peut-être!), ne dépensez pas tous vos sous et venez nous voir!!! 
En plus pour les gourmands et gourmandes ce sera guimauves au kilo, sirop bio à gogo et cupcakes de chez Synie's.  
Le salon sera au-dessus de l'Entrée des Fournisseurs, la mercerie que toutes les couturières marseillaises...et aixoises envient aux parisiennes!

From the 3rd to the 5th of June, Une Sardine à Rio leaves the south of France and sets itself up in Paris in the atelier des Francs Bourgeois for the main market of the month, Kids and the City.
Many talented designers, creators, shops will be there, such as the one cited above and many more...
So, if you are in Paris, don't go to Merci, go to Kids and the City!...Well, go to Merci on Wednesday(maybe, you'll see me there!), don't spend all your money, then come to see us!!!
For the greedy ones, marshmallow by the kilo, organic squash, Synie's cupcakes.
Kids and the City will be just upstairs from l'Entrée des Fournisseurs.
